I was inspired to create this in a series of illustrations during the spread of Covid-19. The summer vibe of Newport, RI is special due to the depth of restaurant and small town feel. As these businesses have all been affected by the pandemic, I wanted to pay homage to their humbleness and their stories. This print includes Thames Street sign, White Horse Tavern, Bowen's Wharf, Salvation Cafe, Newport Blues Cafe, the lighthouse of Goat Island, Touro Synagogue, The Black Pearl, the wave statue, Flo's Clam Shack, The Breakers, Jane Pickens Theatre, Brick Alley Pub, Redwood Library, Pour Judgement, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, Cliff Walk and an image of a sailboat which is titled after a very special long time resident of Newport, Gretchen Bloom. This would make a great gift for someone who loves vacationing in Newport, for one who once lived in Newport or a fan of these businesses.
This tea towel of Newport, Rhode island's staples was drawn with pencil, painted with watercolor, then drawn again with fountain pen. The print features some of the most distinguishing landmarks, attractions, small businesses and restaurants of Newport.
